FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CONSULTATION?

At the consultation it gives you (the client) and myself the chance to meet each other face to face. I will go through the consultation forms with you, so you have some idea of what to do before you take them home. I will check your eligibility as treatment may be denied on the basis of certain medical conditions. We will talk about your expectations and what realistic expectations you can achieve from the treatment.

I will then carry out a rough pencilled eyebrow design and a patch test, which involves placing a small amount of pigment on the skin behind the ear. After this, you can ask any questions you may have, and if you wish to go ahead with the treatment, a non-refundable deposit of £50 will need to be paid to secure your appointment. This is included as part of the overall final price of your treatment.

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a relatively new 21st Century method of permanent makeup. It is also sometimes referred to as feathering, etching, microsculpting or eyebrow embroidery. Microblading is a very natural way of enhancing & changing the look and shape of your eyebrows.

Pigment is implanted manually into the eyebrow area using a hand held tool, achieving thin, crisp hairstrokes that mimic your own eyebrow hair to make eyebrows look very realistic. This gives microblading an edge over traditional cosmetic tattooing techniques.

Microblading is suitable for both women and men who desire natural, realistic looking eyebrows. This is suitable for clients that wish to cover up gaps in their eyebrows, add additional body to over-plucked eyebrows, enhance definition or desire full
reconstruction, and overall increasing confidence in their appearance.

WHAT IS OMBRÉ/POWDER?

Ombré semi-permanent eyebrows are becoming very popular and are suitable for all skin types. It is a beautiful gentle graduation from the tail of the eyebrow being quite defined to a very soft body and bulb, giving the ombré effect.

Ombré eyebrows are tailor made to each client. You can have your eyebrows as soft, defined or as bold as a powder brow as wanted. You can also have a combination of ombré and microblading brows, offering the best of both techniques in one. Ombré/powder eyebrows are created by using a manual tool.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pigment is implanted into the skin using a microblading pen. The pen is actually not a blade, but numerous pins that are even
thinner than the needles commonly used in other cosmetic tattooing procedures.

Microblading is a very meticulous process; the design of the eyebrows alone can take up to 90 minutes or more, as this is the most important part of the treatment. Every client is different, and as such a bespoke eyebrow is designed for each client.

If required, the client’s eyebrows are plucked to neaten them prior to the design being applied.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Once the desired design is ready and the client is happy to proceed, the technician will use a Microblading pen to create individual hairstrokes, one by one, implanting pigment superficially into the upper region of the dermis. This can take up to an hour or so.

Overall the entire treatment can take up to 3 hours, which is a small price to pay for perfect eyebrows!

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

After your initial treatment, a top-up is required 6 weeks later. The amount of fading after the first treatment varies and some people may not require much (if any) additional pigment added at this stage. After the top-up, it is recommended to have a colour boost every 12 to 18 months to maintain colour and definition.

DOES IT HURT MUCH?

For most people, the level of discomfort has been described as less painful than the eyebrow tweezing process prior to treatment. With the client’s permission, a topical anaesthetic is used to numb the area, minimising discomfort.
